Panama City is one of the most visited cities in Central America for good reason: it has something for everyone. If you're looking for an energetic nightlife, Panama City has it. If you're after a more relaxed and historical experience, head to the old town where Spanish colonial-era buildings still line the cobblestone streets. Known as Casco Viejo , it was once the home of wealthy Spanish colonialists, today it's packed with art galleries, trendy restaurants and cafes, and plenty of boutique shopping. Take in the impressive architecture, and stop in at one of the many hotspots to enjoy some local flavor. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a fun day out, Casco Viejo is definitely worth a visit.

If you are thinking of renting a car , don’t .People drive like madmen. Even if your credit cards provides insurance , rental car companies will ask for a $ 5 000 to $ 10 000 hold on your card ! So if you insist , pay for the insurance and save yourself lots of headache. I was involved in two different accidents in Panama ,through no fault of my own …Really, really ! I was glad to be able to walk away and just let the rental car company take care of the ensuing (bureaucratic) mess.
